I am a film scholar, arts critic, editor, and film programmer.

Much of my research and programming looks at histories of underground film, Expanded Cinema and the 1960s and 1970s counterculture. I am particularly interested in the connection between light shows, intermediality, experimental film, and psychedelic art: the subject of my upcoming book. I hold a PhD in Film Studies from Kings College London, and have published in various journals. I have chapters in Sixties British Cinema Reconsidered (Edinburgh University Press, 2021), The Resistance-Image: Militant Documentary on the Battlefields of May ’68 (Slovenian Cinemateque, 2019), and in an upcoming BFI book on Stephen Dwoskin.

I write about artists’ film and video, art and the occult, and feminist, cult and exploitation cinemas. My writing has appeared in Sight and Sound, Another Gaze: A Feminist Film Journal, MUBI Notebook, BFI Online, Curzon Journal, Elephant, VICE, Time Out, AnOther Man, i-D, Sleek, The Idler, Wonderland, Cinevue, The Quietus, and Garageland, among other places.

I have curated film screenings for the British Film Institute, Open City Documentary Festival, Tyneside Cinema, Regent Street Cinema, The Horse Hospital, Eye Film Museum (Amsterdam), Joe’s Garage (Amsterdam), and Mint Collective (Marrakesh Biennale). I have also participated in events at IKLECTIK, The Royal Albert Hall, Transition Art Gallery, Wolverhampton Art Gallery, and the Slovenian Cinematheque.
